"Development is ongoing, not something we start.
We join a process and try to help it along with new ideas."
- Nabeel Hamdi
Deaton Lysaght Architects are a multi-generational design practice predicated on a history of collaboration that extends back more than half a century. Today we enjoy a reputation as one of Ireland's leading architectural conservation practices as well as being committed innovators, continually drawing strength through partnership with the latest generation of architects.
One day in the mid-1970s two architecture students met by accident in Dublin. They had both parked their bicycles in the same location, and got talking about design, life and the merits of a good bike. 15 years later, having both completed their studies and qualified as architects, they got talking again and agreed that it would be a good idea to join forces, and harness their shared passion for design. Over the next 35 years this partnership evolved into a team of committed design professionals and the creation of one of Dublin's most established architectural practices.
From modest beginnings in a small one room office in Rathmines, Deaton Lysaght Architects have now completed over 200 architectural projects and been engaged to work as conservation architects on some of the most significant historic Irish buildings.
Currently led by 3 widely-experienced directors, our highly-trained staff have a range of specialist skills and capabilities and are committed to delivering architecture which is informed by both traditional wisdom and materials as well as the latest emerging technologies.
